Performance-wise, the Excess 14 is engineered for thrilling yet manageable sailing. Its sleek hull design minimizes drag, allowing for impressive speeds and agile handling. The advanced sail plan, featuring a self-tacking jib and forward stepped mast, ensures balanced sailing dynamics and enhanced maneuverability, making each voyage both exciting and efficient.
Dual helm stations are placed at the stern for close contact with the rudders and views of the sails, while the extended rudder blades provide excellent sensations under sail.
The expansive aft cockpit area is perfect for socializing, and provides easy communication with the helmsman. Ample seating provided by the large aft bench seat, and a large dining table for alfresco meals. A double sunbathing lounger and a spacious aft deck offer plenty of room for relaxation and soaking up the sun.
Forward, the traditional trampolined fore deck ensures a lightweight vessel while providing a breezy place for sunbathing. Removable cushions make a cozy place for lounging while at anchor. From here, steps on either side of the mast provide convenient access to the boom, as well as a cushioned lounge area on the coachroof.
Wide stern steps provide easy access to the water for swimming, and other water sports.
Inside, the Excess 14 boasts a thoughtfully designed living space that optimizes comfort and functionality. Impressive volume and headroom blend with a clean modern aesthetic, while the large panoramic windows flood the interior with natural light.
A practical L-shaped galley faces the aft cockpit for convenient serving, and warm wood tone cabinetry and finishes provide a welcoming living area, complete with a retractable chart table.
Excess 14 cabins are comfortably-sized and well-lit with side windows and hatches. Cabin configuration options include an innovative 3-cabin owner’s version with a central bathroom, large closet storage and dressing area with optional extra bunk beds. A 4-cabin version boasts ensuite baths, all with separate showers.
